Willow Oaks Park improvement projects - my 11yo daughter's comments

Hello City Council,

My daughter Paloma, an 11 year old 6th grader at Hillview, is on the City Council Zoom call, patiently waiting for topic I "Approve concept designs for the Burgess Park and Willow Oaks Park improvement projects," but she will need to drop off the zoom at 7pm. I'm emailing the notes she wrote about what she would like to say on her behalf. (Please forgive grammar and typos, I don't want to edit what she wrote since its in her voice, and she wrote them as speaking notes to herself):

"When you hear the word park what does it mean to you. For me it means communities coming together to escape their busy lives . Meaning you can walk your pets freely without worry. But now with us closing the field down with the fence is making us force our selves to walk our dogs in the tiny dog park. The tiny dog park is fine but also not fine. we need to change that fence that is coming. Now I’ll ask you one question. When you bought your dog cat hamster Guinea pig rat mouse etc you said you would make it the happiest dog or cat or etc. and for me that is letting my dog run free. But now with these fences coming in is forcing me two options, one keep my dog on a leash or two take my dog into the tiny dog park. And that would be fine to some people, but I need my dog to have space because in that tiny dog park you need to mix big dogs with tiny dogs witch is not the best idea to do. Personally I have two dogs, both rescues. And they are very shy and scared. Now if I put my dogs into that tiny dog park I will scare my dogs . And now the final question how come crows can go on the grass and poo and pee but our dogs can’t. And we at least pick up their poo. And why does the community have to suffer because one persons said dogs should not be allowed on the grass."

Thank You!
