I am sick to death of kids on e-bikes, scooters, e-motorbikes etc. violating every provision in the Vehicle Code and endangering others. Every time I venture into downtown or West Menlo Park I see entitled little brats (some very young) blowing through stop signs, riding on the sidewalk, and behaving badly, endangering others. Recently on Nextdoor there have been reports of boys committing crimes while on such bikes, and people complaining to MPPD have apparently been told that the police cant do anything. That is arrant nonsense. You need to have officers out (at the very least) at La Entrada school playing fields where there are repeated criminal acts being reported.At a recent meeting at Las Lomitas school (supposedly to introduce the new Sheriff) the meeting was taken over by numerous Menlo Park residents who complained about the MPPD not being effective in responding to property crimes. Now you can add lack of action with respect to youthful offenders to that list.Perhaps it will take a couple of deaths or some lawsuits before you do anything. Now is the time to be proactive to prevent that.
