Menlo Swim needs to stay open and operating

If I remember campaign-speech, this was going to be the City Council that could solve  problems.   Shutting things down is NOT solving problems.
What leadership!  What fine examples of Community concern you are.
Burgess pools service such a wide range of needed outdoor activity from summer camps, families learning to swim safely, lap swimmers, Master Classes, Wellness activities… and more .  Have you ever even visited the site?….or looked at the
schedule which does its best to service every need Menlo Park residents have on a daily basis?
I am an 81 year old who can no longer walk on cement sidewalks so I need grass and gravel to walk on.  Fine!  until this Council closed down the Willows Park field where I walked daily.  A park that had been meeting the needs of the community
for the 60 years I have  lived near it.  So, not being able to walk any more I started swimming at Burgess 3-4 days a week.  Now you want that closed too instead of solving the problem .
It is time to get out of your chambers and talk to people.  The pandemic has left you  believing you can run the city while sitting at home on zoom.  There are men women, children, retired, working, learning people out here who have needs
beyond what you are willing to see and mediate.
While reluctant,  must say I believe this merely continues Menlo Parks past sins of catering to the West Menlo constituents while the East side and the Willows are ignored.  Many of us believe that Willow Park was and is closed because
it has become such  a wonderfully diverse neighborhood with many connection to the East of 101 community.
Perhaps that is why the pool is now being threatened.
I had hoped for more.
