Dear city Manager ,and city council , I am writing to respectfully ask the city to reconsider the current closure of Santa Cruz avenue to vehicle traffic and explore reopening the street to cars . The businesses along this block are struggling with slow customer traffic , and the closure has made it more difficult for people to see, access , and discover our businesses . Being able to drive through the block provides valuable visibility and makes it easier for customers to notice our businesses , stop by , and support the local establishments . WE understand the importance of creating a safe and enjoyable downtown environment , and we are supportive of improvements that benefit the community . However , we believe that allowing vehicle traffic on Santa Cruz avenue would help increase exposure and accessibility for local businesses while still allowing the city to maintain a vibrant pedestrian - friendly area . Our businesses depend on visibility , accessibility , and consistent foot traffic . WE would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss this issue with you and other city representatives . Our goal is to work together on a solution that supports both the community and the businesses that make Santa Cruz avenue an important part of the city . Thank you for your time and consideration .
