To esteemed Menlo Park City Council members:

As a recent emigre from Stanford masters swimming I wish to accentuate the inclusive culture that Tim Sheeper has at Menlo Masters.
It is a true community-based program that embraces all comers from elite swimmers to much older swimmers and those with lesser skills
and athletic ability. Tim makes everyone feel equally welcome and valued, which is quite a stark difference from other master’s programs.
I have heard that some members of the Burgess community have complained that the Menlo Masters group is exclusive, and I could not
disagree more. Frankly, there are always people who complain a lot if things are not “just so” and I would ask the committee to consider
such comments in context. I have noticed that some rec swimmers ‘grumble’ a lot about trivial things, nothing is perfect ! But Tim’s
program is about as inclusive and welcoming as possible, while at the same time having a low bar for entry.

Tim is a very nice guy, and I hope you can extend him every latitude possible. Yes, he’s a business man, but he is not getting rich doing this,
he has to live in Santa Cruz because he cannot afford to live locally, he drives every day. So please give a nice, hard working guy
a break, he has done so much good for Burgess.

and keep up the good work !

best, Chris
