Honorable Mayor and Council Members,
It would be most appropriate to express a big THANK YOU for preparing a September 11th - City Council Proclamation, as shown on next weeks meeting, as Agenda Item # H-1, attached is a copy. For those that have not seen it, it states:
IN MEMORY AND WITH HOPES OF LASTING PEACE, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
September 11th is an important date in the nations history in which we will NEVER FORGET. The bronze plaque located near the Police Station is also a thoughtful way to acknowledge this event all year. I was pleased to see the news coverage in todays Almanac, Daily Post, Daily Journal and many other newspapers, and the important part our local Menlo Park Fire Protection District (MFPD) had in New York. days following the horrific event.
World Peace is an elusive goal, but one worth fighting for in a variety of ways. If you are not already a member, I encourage you to consider a long standing, respected group known as MAYORS FOR PEACE (www.mayorsforpeace.org). Many U.S. cities across the country are active in this group.
