Dear City Council members,
We are writing to express our enthusiastic support for the affordable housing development proposed for the Downtown Menlo Park parking lots. Were excited to see the progress that has been made in the feasibility study, and hope that you will decide to take further steps forward—especially with regards to Parking Plazas 1, 2, and 3.
We know many families who, like us, have young children, and a constant topic of discussion is how expensive it is to live in this area. Weve had many friends who have left the area because of housing costs. We ourselves have considered leaving the area for the same reason. If the city builds more housing—especially affordable housing, and especially in such an excellent, walkable downtown location—we believe that more families will choose to stay in Menlo Park because they are able to make this their home. Our city will only be the richer, more diverse, and more vibrant as a result.
Thank you for taking steps to build more housing in Menlo Park. We respectfully urge you to continue to do so—especially with such a promising project at hand.
