Sunset Magazine campus concerns

Hello,
My family and I live near San Francisquito Creek on the Palo Alto side. We
have lived on Palo Alto Avenue for nine years, less than half a mile from
80 Willow Road.
As renters, we recognize the value of additional housing, especially
affordable housing. However, we have long been deeply concerned about the
former Sunset Magazine campus. Quite simply, what is now being proposed for
this site does not belong there.
We are concerned about the environmental impacts on the creek, the lack of
adequate infrastructure, the loss of privacy for nearby residents, and the
disruption caused by construction. We are also very concerned about the
already severe rush-hour traffic on Willow Road and University Avenue, both
of which are one-way streets. This project would only worsen those
conditions.
I have spoken with numerous neighbors, and not one supports the
construction of these towers. My greatest concern is that a small number of
people with money and influence may be allowed to override the voices of
the many people who live here and call this community home.
If these towers are approved as proposed, they will become a tragic symbol
of what money can buy, regardless of the wishes of local residents.
This is not downtown Los Angeles or downtown San Francisco. Towers do not
belong here. Please do not allow this to happen. Approving this project as
proposed would be irresponsible.
Thank you,
Suzi Emanuele-Manbeck
