Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
I am a resident of Palo Alto, living not far from the old Sunset Magazine site at 80 Willow Road. I am very familiar with the traffic that backs up into Palo Alto on Middlefield Road from about 3pm to 6pm on most days. In fact, I live in the neighborhood in which certain turn restrictions were placed because of the traffic that is heading for the Dumbarton Bridge.
It is beyond my comprehension that the N17 developers have proposed such a plan for this site. It has to be total disregard for the community and the people who live here. It has to be based on greed. Why else would anyone think of doing this?
I understand that as a council you are in a bind, possibly being sued no matter what choice you make. I sympathize with you. Its not only the developers, but the states requirements that are damaging communities everywhere. Its happening in Palo Alto too, and in Carmel where a friend is fighting the states requirements and the greedy developers who have little interest in the actual communities.
I hope you can choose your community and its residents despite the consequences.
Or that you can find some solution to the horrendous consequences of such a proposal.
