Dear City Council,
My husband and I have owned a home in the Willows for almost ten years. When we moved here from the east coast, we chose Menlo Park because of the excellent schools, proximity to our jobs and also because of the small town charm and the wonderful sense of community. We love living in Menlo Park and have really loved living in the Willows. It seems to somehow have escaped the glitz of other Silicon Valley community and maintained a strong sense of it’s roots.
The Mega Tower project with destroy that small town community feel, instantly injecting a massive number of new residents and forever destroying our skyline. It breaks my heart to think of my beloved Willows Market existing in the shadow of two massive glass towers.
It will also significantly affect our day to day life in terms of traffic. We live just off of Willow Road and already struggle sometimes at rush our getting through the intersection as Willow road and Middlefield on our way home due to 101 and Dumbarton Bridge traffic. If the towers project proceeds, I’m not sure how I’ll get home. There will be gridlock in that entire section of Menlo Park.
Please so all you can to stop developers and Sacramento marring our beloved neighborhood.
