Dear Menlo Park City Council Members:
As an over 25 year resident of Menlo Park, concerned citizen and supporter of affordable housing in our community, I am writing to support your efforts to continue fighting the development at 80 Willow Road (the former Sunset Magazine location).
These proposed buildings are a monstrosity given the character and current density/height restrictions typically allowed in our community -- it proposes development of multiple big city type structures on a residential corner, that will be the tallest structures between SF and LA. Even putting this objection aside, below are additional causes for extreme concern:
1) This project makes our housing shortfall worse.2) The environmental impact has not been determined. Based upon common sense alone this impact would be huge as it relates to traffic, parking and emergency-access/ evacuation.3) There has been no evaluation related to the impact on tax payer funded infrastructure/services such as public schools.4) The questionable background of the owner of the property -- as highlighted by congressman Sam Liccardo in his recent letter to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. https://liccardo.house.gov/media/press-releases/liccardo-calls-federal-investigation-russian-owned-menlo-park-development
Please use ALL of the resources available to you, as representatives of our town and all of us, to STOP this Project from moving forward.
