Dear Council Members,
I go swimming about twice a week at Burgess Pool, and often come home around 3 pm. Sometimes I have to wait throught THREE lights at the corner of Willow and Middlefield (going towards 101) to get home. I live in the Willows.
There is simply NO ROOM to widen any of those streets at that intersection, and I have heard that the traffic backs up for a mile or more in all four directions. It would be complete gridlock all afternoon, especially since “rush hour” now does start around 3 pm. This alone would create a grim scenario for the entire neighborhood and environs.
If Ms. Nash invites AG Rob Bonta for a visit, please have him come around 3 pm (if he can even get here) so he can see for himself.
That’s my main take on this whole situation in terms of personal experience. But I know that neighbors in every direction would be very upset with this project. It just does not work at that scale for this neighborhood. Build a several-story apartment or condo at the site, leave out the swimming pool (we already have a neighborhood swimming pool), and maybe a few small businesses and a couple of restaurants. But not this gargantuan monstrosity.
