Dear city Council and staff,
Writing to highlight a public safety issue on Ringwood Ave. Attached is an example of a car that pulled out in front of me to pass in the bike lane due to the backed up traffic at Ringwood and Coleman aves. When the car got to the stop sign, it ran the stop sign almost hitting kids that were in the crosswalk.
Ringwood and Coleman Avenues are multi-jurisdictional areas which adds complexity to coordination, but I wanted to share the attached video of the public safety issues along Ringwood. I know Menlo Park is only a portion of Ringwood closer to Middlefield, but the county just renewed work on plans to add a bike and pedestrian path on the west side of Ringwood and would like the city to engage the county to drive quick action to have this infrastructure built.
In summary, I hope this adds to the greater need for the Ringwood class I/IV bike lane that San Mateo public works is tracking to work on and was just again recommended by the BPAC.
