I read and highlighted your comments in the Almanac article (see below 9/25/2026 pages 1 and 16 )
Thank you Council member Schmidt for your comments:
"The city should Prioritize a broader transportation study, even if doing so slows down work on other projects".
"You are NOT inclined to vote to approve ANY project, until WE figure out a Comprehensive transportation and circulation plan".
(I presume for Downtown Menlo Park project too!)
"Even if it slows work on other projects"
"Its about HOW MENLO PARk HANDLES DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS"
Also:
Its good to read that ALL "Council members expressed concern about how the project would impact the . . . Neighborood . . . and the City as a WHOLE "
Yes, good thinking: "nearby streets could not absorb the combined growth"
And, Good Questions:
Do we have the INFRASTRUCTURE to handle that????
Will there be GRIDLOCK most of the time????
Will it be harder to gain access to neighboring properties????
How about the California Environmental Quality Act????
Council member Schmidt, Im sure your fellow council members Nash, Wise, Taylor and Combs fully agree with your unwillingness to vote on ANY Project without a "Comprehensive transportation and circulation plan for Downtown Menlo Park".
So many things to consider before voting on the Menlo Park nine story Downtown Apartments and Multi-Story Ramp!
Please email me a copy of the "Comprehensive transportation and circulation plan for Downtown Menlo Park" when you receive it so we can go over it with the businesses, neighbors and property owners.
You will of course want their feedback on such an important matter, before voting on ANY part of this project, including the "Surplus Land" vote.
And with all the Parkline Housing being added ( 1082 units ! ) there really is NO NEED for the Apartments in The Downtown Parking lots.
