Dear City Council -
In March, following a city-organized Middle Ave area residents meeting , I wrote to Esther Jung at the Transportation Dept.:
".... please call out detailed parking changes, especially Sunday [New Community] church parking at Arbor, often involving 2-3 dozen cars now utilizing Middle Ave and side streets, principally Arbor. Please also clearly indicate any changes to residential front yards following from new sidewalks."
To the best of my knowledge, the Sunday parking has not been addressed, and certainly has not been communicated to nearby residents. At last weekends city-resident meeting, church parking was still an unknown.
Perhaps of greater concern for parking on Middle are construction or maintenance projects typically now parking mostly on Middle but including side streets for individual workers. For larger vehicles involved in construction, its not clear just where some will be able to park. If a construction project is ongoing, its to be expected that side street residents will soon tire of large vehicles parked all day in front of their residence for a project on another street. Id expect residents to put out their own orange cones to deter unmanaged overflow parking from Middle.
As noted, this issue hasnt been addressed since it was raised at the March meeting, then again by email to the city and council representatives. Im supportive of bike lanes on Middle, and robust church activity, but the project has apparently ignored parking impacts to side streets south of University.
Sincerely,
John Kadvany / College Avenue
