Council members,
I have have biked to work for ten years starting in 1976, have had boys bike to Oak Knoll, Hillview, and M-A schools, and biked around Middle on their paper routes. In recent years I have participated in multiple Downtown planning and Middle Avenue bike lane meetings.
I want to thank Mayor Nash and Councilman Mueller for their participation and advocacy for the Middle Avenue bike solutions that is before the Council this week as Attachment I.
At this stage of the multiple Projects involved, I ask that the Council insist on a temporary execution of the plans, say for 30 days, with "no parking" signs, taped bike lanes, taped bulb outs, temporary Stop signs, mini traffic circle at University, etc. from Olive to and including El Camino Real.
Menlo Park has a history of getting it wrong without such a temporary executions. The temporary execution gets everyones attention and lots of feedback about what does and does not work.
It is also important to set a time table for the "private property discussions", including Middle Plaza.
