To Whom it May Concern;
My husband and I own the home located at 1035 Middle Ave, and we are thrilled the road is being updated to make it more safe for biking in our community. We support removing parking for protected bike paths on both sides, but not removing all parking along Middle Ave.
As one of the homes that is located across the street from both Lyle park and the apartments, we often utilize and see utilized parking for guests and household help or repairs on Middle simply due to the density of people living and recreating in the area. These lots are fairly narrow, and the total removal of all parking along this corridor will encourage people to j-walk across the street to park on the one side of parking along Fremont Ave, or walking a fair distance to Arbor or Yale Road. While I enjoy catching exercise where I can, we also have elderly neighbors (in their 80s!) who need groceries and supplies delivered at times, and its a long way to schleppe belongings.
We very much agree with the engineering staffs recommendation to retain parking on one side of the street where possible, while adding the much needed bike lanes. Also, thank you for all the effort and due consideration on this project that you do on behalf of Menlo Park. We do love it here and much of that is because of the wonderful people in our community.
Best regards,
