Dear Council Members,
Im writing to say that I am in favor of keeping our December tree lighting ceremony and continuing to call it a "Holiday Tree Lighting". I feel December is a "holiday time", no matter what ones faith, and there are multiple December holiday religious celebrations besides Christmas such as Chanukah (this year it is Dec. 18-26) and Kwanzaa. (As well, I believe most Menlo Park residents celebrate with some form of exchanging gifts in December.)
I would also support continuing the egg hunt in the spring. Spring is a time of new life -- flowers blooming, baby animals being born -- and the egg hunt alludes to that. We need reasons to celebrate and come together as a community now more than ever.
