My name is Linh Nguyen, and I am an 8th grader at Hillview Middle School. I am also a competitive soccer player. I have played soccer since I was four in local clubs in Menlo Park, such as AYSO and Alpine Strikers. Soccer is my favorite sport and has been important to me many ways. Not only has it kept me active, but it has taught me the importance of working with others, and balancing school and sports.
However, soccer is not accessible to everyone, and not all kids have the chance to try it. I am trying to organize a free summer camp next year, in the summer of 2023. I am especially interested in introducing soccer to children who cannot otherwise afford soccer. One of the things we need to make this happen is a reliable field to practice in, so I was wondering if the city would be able to donate the space and the time for this program.
This summer camp will be one week long and is happening from July 17 - 21 for an hour and a half every day. We would only need about 70 m by 50 m for 2 and a half hours for set-up, practice, and cleanup from 8 - 10:30. Please consider donating the space to help us!
