Hello Council Members,
I’m writing on AGENDA ITEM G-1: Middle Avenue Improvements. As a nearby resident, motorist, cyclist, and parent I’m highly encouraged to see the diligent and inclusive process the council and staff followed to get to this point. I hope the council moves forward to adopt this resolution. From a car traffic safety and flow perspective, I’m looking forward to using the roundabout to be piloted at Middle and University. From a bike and car perspective, I hope the pilot bike lanes dramatically cut down on surprise movement into the car lanes by cyclists riding around parked cars. This is especially important for Oak Knoll students using this as a designated route to and from school.
Thank you council for guiding this process and having the fortitude to experiment with new solutions that can materially improve the safety and flow of a street that’s one of our main ways home.
