Dear Mayor and Councilmembers,
Having attended yesterdays Special Session of the Council and having read the proposed amendment to the 2026 Housing Element referred to in that meeting by fellow resident Laura Mehlan may I please ask the Council to direct the City Attorney and the Planning Division to review the proposed amendment as a high priority task?
The proposed amendment addresses the shortcomings of the current 2026 Housing Element regardless of the outcome of the Measure P initiative vote. Its subtitle, Replacing the Downtown Parking Plaza Program and Securing the Element Against the Willow Village Pause, is a cogent and compelling description.
