Re: Speed limit on city part of Santa Cruz Ave

Greetings,

By law I am prohibited by participating in any decision or action related to this subject matter given it’s proximity to my home.

Kindly,
Ray Mueller

(please excuse odd punctuation. my laptop does not always work well with the Citys email system.)

Subject: Speed limit on city part of Santa Cruz Ave

There is an anomaly with respect to speed on Santa Cruz Ave alongside the cemetery. All of Santa Cruz Ave is 25 mph except for a short span where it is 30 mph. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason why this is so. The prima facie speed limit for a residential district (which is what that area is) is 25 mph unless there is a good reason for it to exceed that limit (which reason does not exist)
There are additional problems with having a 30 mph limit in that particular place:
(1) the problem of the offset at Sharon and Oakdell which is the site of many accidents
(2) the frequent parking for large funerals at the cemetery
(3) the crosswalk and malfunctioning lights
(4) frequent cyclists
(5) children in the area
I have sent e-mails before asking for the rationale (if any) for this discrepancy and got absolutely zero response, which is utterly amazing considering that Ray Mueller lives right there.
I would hope that someone gets around to fixing this problem.
