Dear City Council,
We are writing about our concerns regarding the conversion of some of the Nealon Park tennis courts to pickleball courts. We live directly across from the courts that are slated for conversion and have some concerns about the noise. Ours and our neighbors’ houses are fairly old, which means we often need to open the windows in the summer to cool it down. Given that the courts are and will be open until late, the noise is a concern for households with babies and small children who get put to bed long before 10pm.
The other issue concerns the notification system for the surrounding community, or rather, the lack thereof. We are also frustrated that this continues to come up as an issue, but we only found out about the plan to convert the courts because one of the tennis players walked across the street to talk to us about it. None of our neighbors were aware. We haven’t seen signs on the courts or anything else that clearly invited people to participate in the discussion or even made them aware this was the plan.
