Dear City Council:
I am a resident of District 5 and also a commissioner on the Menlo Parks Complete Streets Commission. I am writing to enthusiastically endorse Sally Cole to represent District 5 on the City Council.
Sally and I serve together on the Complete Streets Commission. In a short period of time, her leadership and participation has truly improved everything about serving on the Commission and the work that we do. As Chair of our Commission, she did an excellent job leading all the public meetings on the Middle Avenue project and ensuring we produced the best outcomes for Menlo Park and all our residents.
Sally has a collaborative work style that brings us all together. She has helped the commission to focus our work and time and has made us far more efficient and productive. She also works exceptionally well with City Staff.
Sally respects different opinions and considers the experience of all types of people in the City, even when they are not the most vocal people in the room - for example, the pedestrians and older people who use Middle Avenue.
After last week’s Complete Streets Commission meeting, I actually told Sally that I had been hoping she would apply for the District 5 vacancy. That’s because I know she will do a fantastic job. I will be sorry to lose her on the Complete Streets Commission, but I would be thrilled to have her represent me and District 5 on the City Council.
