Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing in support of Team Sheeper’s RFP response.
I have been a life long swimmer (grew up swimming at Burgess when it was 33 1/3 yards), a swim coach for age group and adults for quite a few decades outside of the state, swim instructor, and I wrote a book on learning to swim, which has sold thousands of copies worldwide. I was fortunate enough to be observe and be mentored by national level programs both domestic and abroad as well as coach alongside and at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. So basically I’ve been exposed to the workings of both public and private facilities and programs from all around the country as well as abroad.
I have known Tim Sheeper since he first started the masters program and have witnessed his expansion into what he has today. When we are so fortunate to be blessed with such a gifted visionary as Mr. Sheeper, we can forget how truly lucky we are. I have never experienced a swim facility that is used more effectively and efficiently with the highest of quality. Mr. Sheeper has not done it alone for it has been his ability to develop a staff that reflects his vision in order for the accomplishments to be achieved and the benefits reaped by our community. When you experience the absolute best you know it and to take this away from our community would be a tremendous loss for our community.
With all this said, I encourage you to not dispose of Menlo Parks good fortunate to have such a valuable well organized and run asset. Thank you for your consideration of my opinion and please know how grateful I am to each of you to choose to be leaders of our community. No easy task indeed.
