We are writing in strong support of Menlo Swim and Sport and Tim Sheeper, and the current aquatics program at Burgess Pool. We have been active users of the pool for over a decade, both for ourselves personally as part of the Masters swim program and lap swimming, as well as for swim lessons and programs for our children. We are extremely impressed with the offerings and quality of the programs, as well as the ability to use the pool for open swim. We think that Tim and his company do an excellent job of providing high quality programming, recruiting and managing an expert and engaged staff, and balancing the different needs of the community. We cant imagine this pool and our community without this program.
We are aware that there have been a lot of complaints and grumbling about Tim and his company -- I think in reality, it is very difficult to run such a program effectively, balance community needs, and keep a high quality of facilities, staff, and programming going. Im sure people imagine that there are alternative solutions, but pragmatically we find it very hard to believe that an alternative would be able to do as good of a job. We strongly support the current management and we hope that the City Council chooses to keep supporting them strongly.
