Menlo Park City Council Members,
I write in support of Menlo Swim and Sport being the primary provider of aquatic services for our city.
Burgess pool has been our home away from home for our family and many of our friends. Our two young boys have enjoyed the private swim lessons and swim team since we moved here in 2016. I use the lap swim lanes each week, and play with the Menlo Mavens Masters Water Polo team every Sunday morning.
During the COVID lockdown we could not wait to return to the pool in some capacity. Menlo Swim and Sport was well organized and provided a system that utilized the pool and available times efficiently, including online signup slots throughout the day, a "one person per lane" requirement, and safe in and out instructions. They did a wonderful job ensuring the health safety of the members, and communicated changes on a weekly, if not daily basis.
As the now president of Menlo Mavens Masters Water Polo, I have experienced respect and help in areas that make our practices and scrimmages run smoothly. The staff have been flexible if we need to cancel a practice, extend our pool time, or want to have other teams visit for scrimmaging. They were willing to help us with setup and takedown of tables, popup shade, electrical connections, storage of equipment, and water temperature control.
Menlo Swim and Sport employees are always willing to help, are kind and professional. They make a point to get to know the community members by name and will go the extra mile in times of need. I have observed that there is respect and support for those with disabilities, providing physical aids like chair lifts, a warm-water pool, shallow entry and wheelchair-friendly entrances and exits.
Menlo Swim and Sport creates an environment that makes all people feel welcome. This includes all ages, all water sports, all needs, and most importantly... fun!
I give my highest recommendation to Menlo Swim and Sport as the primary provider of aquatics for the City of Menlo Park.
