Dear Menlo Park City Council -
My name is Jeff Hewitt. Ive lived at 1075 Cascade Drive in Menlo Park for more than 20 years. Im writing to voice my opinion on your upcoming vote regarding the Management of Burgess Pool. My experience is that the current management team is excellent and I ask that you not switch. Let me highlight a few points:
1) We had a nationwide shortage of lifeguards last summer. I know that many pools in the area struggled to hire. I was told that Burgess was fully staffed with lifeguards. One of the lifeguards told me its because they offer a training course for lifeguards and that the management is wonderful. I would not want to see a situation where we switch from a good management team to one that isnt able to hire in this challenging labor market.
2) They have lots of programs at the pool such as water aerobics. I remember the prior leadership at the prior pool. They didnt do anything but lap swim and swim lessons. This team has tons of activities and the pool is being used.
I ask that you not switch away from a team thats doing so well.
