Input to City Council Priorities and Goal-Setting Workshop

Councilors,

Please adopt these points as priorities for City government for the next year:

1. Reduce reliance on developer fees. Menlo Park has come to depend on fees from large developments in District 1 to balance spending. Large commercial developments worsen traffic, cause environmental damage to the Baylands and worsen housing affordability through increased jobs/housing imbalance. The unchecked development in the Life Sciences District poses health and safety risks to Belle Haven and East Palo Alto. Menlo Park must learn to live within its means and develop wisely.

2. Develop a new noise ordinance to support the Citys electrification goals and to maintain quality of life in the face of increased density. The current noise limits for electrical equipment are not adequate to avoid nuisance noise to residents from outside heat pumps, biotech HVAC systems, and other sources.
