Hello Council Members,
I do not support removal of four parking spaces near 660 Roble Avenue. I believe you need to consider the whole area.
The owner requests removal due to safety concerns, however, their existing bushes limit site lines for pedestrians and cars; they have not addressed their own issue first. Applying the new site line rules will leave Roble Ave with virtually no on street parking due to its being developed over 70 years ago with different requirements for multi-family housing.
With many driveways and limited off street apartment parking on Roble Avenue, it is often quite full down the whole street.
Roble is also impacted by those who park all day to avoid paying downtown parking fees. I imagine with parking being removed on Middle near Nealon Park and the closure of Blake more parking will be pushed onto Roble where there is pedestrian access to the Park. Additionally, the opening of the new commercial property on El Camino may add even more parking demand. (College Ave. and Partridge Ave have restricted parking due to overflow parking from prior El Camino businesses.)
I do understand the safety concern but this one off is not a solution, just a nod to one property owner. Their residents and guests will then park in front of other buildings and too near driveways.
Please consider the whole area.
Thank you,
Carol Collins
owner of 887 Roble Ave.
