Dear Mayor Wolosin and Council Members:
Thank you for your consideration of implementing quiet zones in the stretch of Menlo Park from Encinal to Ravenswood. The 16 horn blasts per train along this 1.12 mile stretch are magnified by the 50 trains traveling north and 50 trains
traveling south, according to the posted CalTrain website. Add in one or two Union Pacific freight trains and the clanging bells, and do the math. You will learn it really is hard to sleep if you live nearby, which we do. We are hopeful that Palo Alto will
implement the same Quiet Zone at the crossing of Alma Street and the tracks in Palo Alto.
We cannot encourage you enough to bring peace and quiet to central Menlo Park.
Best wishes in accomplishing this for the City.
