Dog attack & counter-attack

Dear City Council,

There is a Menlo Park resident whose dog ("Bär") attacked another dog ("Pushkin"), causing significant injury to the latter. The owners of Bär are now waging an all-hands-on-deck campaign to rewrite facts and pretend as though the attack never happened, or was somehow grossly exaggerated. They are drumming up support making the following claims, which I see as both false and misleading, based on facts that the owners of Pushkin have communicated to me about the situation. I have a personal and professional relationship with the owners of Pushkin, and am confident in their objective and factual understanding of the events around this dog attack incident.

I am writing to protest this effort to sway City Council in favor of the owners of Bär, who attacked and caused significant injury to Pushkin. Another neighbors dog was actually killed in a dog attack a few years back, and its not OK for our community to simple "forgive and forget" dog-on-dog attacks. We need to enforce safeguards to ensure pet safety.

Here is an excerpt of the mass email campaign communication from the owners of B

Here are some more talking points. Dont feel you have to speak to all of them (there isnt time) or just to them (and not others). Make it personal!

* How it is inconceivable that this case/incident with Pushkin was an attack:
* One side claimed it was an "attack" when everything, including the injury and Bärs character scream "normal dog interaction" (essentially a "nothingburger").
* If you were at the hearing, recount how the experts agreed that the injury was typical for what happens when people try to separate dogs.
* If you know Pushkin and feel you can talk to his character, please do so.
* How you have never heard of anyone calling Animal Control for such a standard dog to dog tangle.

I object strongly to the claims made in the above excerpt. They are grossly misleading and not factually correct. I hope that the City Council is not swayed by incoming communications from friends and family members of the owners of Bär who are ill-advisedly advocating for a roll-back of safeguards to prevent future dog attacks.

Sincerely,

Jen Mazzon
