Dear Council Members,
My name is Pedro Milani and I live together with my partner Hilary Luo in 1185 Noel Dr in Menlo Park. It’s our understanding that the council will meet later today to discuss, among other things, the establishment of a Rail Quiet Zone to reduce Caltrain Horns in the downtown area. We strongly support this measure.
I am a public transport enthusiast and I take Caltrain to work. I decided to live close to the Menlo Park station to make my life more convenient. However, in many ways, that was a big mistake because my quality of sleep has plummeted - I have to sleep with windows closed and with ear plugs and whenever ear plugs fall off at night I wake up with the blasting horns at 5am. We feel like this measure would benefit us and a lot of our neighbors by increasing our quality of life (and, for owners, also increase property prices near the train crossings). We really hope the council will approve and fund this proposal.
