Dear City Council,
I am writing today to express my utmost support for the proposed new eating and drinking establishment on El Camino Real, next door to one of our favorite new places in town, the Guild.
I have heard that there is a new venture underway to try to turn the building next door into a new restaurant with great cocktails and menu, where my husband and I could gather with friends to eat, for example before going to watch a show at the Guild. This would be so much fun and add a dimension to our social life which would be very welcome. I know many other couples who support this idea, too.
Currently we feel that there are not very many good options for eating and getting a drink in Menlo Park. Many of the current restaurants feel old and outdated, or don’t have a particularly interesting or inviting atmosphere. Some are overpriced for the quality of what they serve, or haven’t changed their menus in a long, long time. Some are very casual and feel more like takeout establishments rather than places you’d want to arrange to meet friends and relax in for a while. Some are better than others, but we need more choices and venues where we can hang out, feel at home, and meet friends.
The Guild has brought an excellent and exciting new dimension to the social scene in Menlo Park - great bands in a beautiful venue. It is amazing to pop in there and bump into so many good friends from our local community, while listening to great music. We love it! We would really welcome this new addition to compliment an evening at the Guild, or even just to go to on its own.
Please consider this addition to our local scene and to benefit our community, so that we don’t have to always leave Menlo Park when we want to find a good spot to get a drink and have some good food.
