Dear Council, At your May 9 meeting, I learned that the city has not yet started replacing the trees that were removed because of the 101/Willow interchange construction, and that the lack of this barrier has exacerbated the problems with noise and light pollution for nearby residents. As many of us noted at that meeting, excessive noise has a negative impact on quality of life.
I appreciate the action the council is taking toward implementing railroad quiet zones, and hope that residents throughout the city can get some relief from excessive noise. Because the city has already allocated funding to plant new trees, there is no reason to delay -- and thousands of reasons to accelerate the process.
Sincerely,
JoAnne Goldberg East Creek Drive
