Willow/101 Living Conditions

Dear Menlo Park City Council,

After attending the most recent city council meeting I was deeply saddened to hear that our Menlo Park neighbors by the Willow/101 interchange are dealing with unhealthy living conditions. I’m writing in support of your project to reduce the noise and light problems for residents living near the Hwy 101/Willow interchange, where walls and trees that had served as barriers for residents were removed for construction in 2016 and have not been replaced.

It is my understanding that the City has already set aside specific funding to plant new trees by the interchange to begin to fix this situation. I hope these will be trees large enough to make a difference, and I hope you will prioritize the re-planting immediately. At the same time, sound walls should have been re-constructed years ago. I would be happy to help rally my neighbors and to pressure Caltrans to prioritize the re-build.

Excessive, constant noise hurts quality of life and health.. This project is already funded and easy to implement. Let’s plant the trees!

Sincerely,
Melissa B. MIlls
