Fw: Oak Oak Knoll raised crosswalk rebuild to 2008 city approved height like Oak Vine

Why cant this Oak/Oak Knoll Lane raised crosswalk get done asap now that Oak Knoll School is back in session?

Its been over a year since Kevin Chen, Transportation Engineer, met neighbors at this intersection and confirmed it was a staff level approval rebuild of the Oak/Oak Knoll raised crosswalk, approved by Council in 2008, that was not built to the proper height like the one at Oak/Vine near Sand HIll Rd. The city hired Granite Rock Construction and paid nearly $50K to build the 2 raised crosswalks per City designed and engineered plans, but Public Works obviously didnt closely monitor the project and Granite Rock got paid for a half baked job....

Weve seen an increasing volume of speeding traffic using the Middle/Oak/ Oak Knoll school Safe Routes corridor since Middle Ave.changes were made, (i.e. no parking, and only a stop sign at San Mateo Drive) that encourages cut through traffic to not use Sand Hill Rd. via El Camino, and using Middle/Olive/Oak passing Oak Knoll School as the "Le Mans" raceway as a faster way to get from ECR to Sand Hill and 280.

Many drivers dont even stop at the stop signs at Oak/Oak Knoll Lane as the "as built" raised crosswalk doesnt slow down impatient drivers...

This is an inexcusable delay and Oak Knoll principal Alicia Payton-Miyazaki has reached out to Hugh, whom she replied would do... yet another "study".

We need action, not excuses, before there is a critical incident at this dangerous intersection, that is in blatant disregard to the very concept of "Safe Routes to School".

Rich, and the Oak Knoll School neighbors and parents.

Hi Alicia
Thanks for contacting Hugh Louch!
Lmk when he might be meeting here at the intersection with you so I can be available as well as Rick Morris and maybe Dan Francisco
We met with Kevin Chen City Transportation Engineer over a year ago and it’s just been frustrating delay to just top up the raised crosswalk
It’s what should have been done per 2008 engineering plan and Granite Rock $50k contract and city public works lack of proper oversight
Thanks ,
Rich and the Oak Knoll neighbors and parents
