Pickleball is loved by so many because it is a sport where you can show up alone and find others to play with. This is why it is essential that we have additional courts at Nealon, so we all can trust others will be there to play with when we take time out of our schedules to play. It does not make sense to scatter courts throughout Menlo Park.
Players like myself have been working with the P&R for well over 18 months to try to expand pickleball at Nealon. At a prior P&R meeting, the P&R Commission approved use of additional tennis courts for pickleball at Nealon, but then nothing happened. Now, we are having another meeting on something that has already been approved in the past. Please put pressure on this Commission to finally meet the needs of the community and expand pickleball opportunities at Nealon. What a great way for our community members to bond, stay fit, and grow even deeper roots in Menlo Park!
I think this expansion can happen separately—and prior to—discussions about key access. Let’s table that and get these courts functioning to meet the demand of the community!
