Councilmember Nash,
I am sure this has gone through the right Commissions & Boards, but in addition to the public comment I think a special session organized by the local Architecture (AIA) chapter and the local contractor organization would be very beneficial to the staff.
Our son is an architect in North Bay and his AIA organized such a study session when a new building code was being considered for adoption. He related to us that language in such documents can be ambiguous and it helped to have those impacted, City staff, Architects, Developers and Builders, get together and agree, or clarify, language, which saved hundreds of hours of individual discussions and rework AFTER the code was adopted and drawings were submitted. Win-Win.
thanks for keeping us informed.
