Hello Mayor Wolosin, Vice Mayor Taylor, Councilmembers Combs, Nash, Doerr, City Manager Murphy, and staff
Thank-you all for your time and energy on this matter. I am a strong advocate of naming the building Belle Haven Multi-generational Community Campus. This is the name used in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan 2019 (pgs 82, 118, 130 & 162). From the picture of the face of the building it appears quite limiting. So that name will need to be shortened.
I am slowly researching the origin of the name Belle Haven and other significant events and people. Prior to annexation the Belle Haven Elementary School was built, clearly indicating the name was established.
I have attached a timeline that includes people who ran for council representing the Belle Haven neighborhood from 1964 to today and the U.S. Census with demographics for Belle Haven. While looking for something else.
I also found Dr. Andrew White (and partner Dr. Larry Hooper ) who opened a medical office on Hill Street in Belle Haven in 1958. His was one of a few private practices on the Peninsula that accepted Medi-Cal. Dr. White was also a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club. There is much more to follow-up on, especially the San Mateo County History Museums three-mont exhibit in 2008. honoring Dr. White.
The attached timeline is only a snippet of the origin of the name Belle Haven and a few notable people.
Respectfully,
Pam D Jones
