Dear City Council,

Below is a letter we sent to Councilperson Doerr. A "failed" roadway by the Citys own admission deserves repair before 2026. Maintaining safe roads should be a priority for a city council.

Dear Councilperson Doerr,

Thanks for the information regarding the CIty of Menlo Parks plans to repave Sand Hill Circle with sound absorbent asphalt. I have read the City report and what strikes me as dramatic is
the fact that Sand Hill Circle is "2 points" off a FAILED roadway.

The "PCI" scale (pavement condition index) states that a score of 25-50 is poor and a scale of 0-25 is FAILED. Sand Hill Circle rates a 27 which to me indicates, given the likely margin of error in this arbitrary scale, that our roadway is FAILED.

Thus, Sand Hill Circle is in urgent need of repair. The timetable of doing this repair in 2026-2027 is unacceptable in my view. The roadway is hazardous currently. Traffic routinely swerves across the center divide to avoid the pits and dips around the Circle.

As our representative, I ask that you vigorously pursue advancing the schedule to re pave Sand Hill Circle this coming summer, 2024.

Thanks you for your interest and work on our behalf.
