Dear Councilmembers,
Our family greatly appreciates the recent permanent implementation of the
Coleman pilot program. It has significantly improved our comfort level
regarding our child biking to and from Laurel Elementary School.
To further improve safety, we ask the city to consider installing flexible
posts along the bike lane. Cars often travel at twice the speed of biking
children, and vehicles frequently park or idle in the bike lane, forcing
children into vehicular traffic. Painted lanes alone are not sufficient to
ensure our childrens safety.
