As a trial lawyer, my best advice to this city council:
Avoid costly lawsuits !
How?
Endorse "Yes on P" to actually STOP the Parking lot litigation!
OR: Adopt Measure P !
Your Downtown "Surplus Land Grab" lawsuit is caused by the councils (Your) reckless actions to blatantly violate the documented agreement between the city and the store owners to "Let the property owners (taxpayers) Vote on any changes to the parking lots".
It is this councils fault that this lawsuit exists !
AND, as a former bench trial judge, I predict the city will LOSE this lawsuit.
Why? "Equitable Estoppel" !
YES on P is actually the only way to STOP (settle) the lawsuit by the group of store owners and residents.
The Menlo Park council has brought on all this litigation by their unchecked negligence. YOU can stop it.
And then, you can concentrate on the more serious lawsuit: "80 Willow" !
