Hi Mr. Beltramo,
Thank you for reaching out and identifying an inadvertent error in the staff report. As you have noted, of the 219 responses to the question “Do you operate a business in downtown Menlo Park?” in the Chamber of Commerce’s survey, the majority (73.5%) do not operate a business in downtown Menlo Park. I apologize for this error and I will make a note of it at tomorrow’s City Council meeting.
Regards,
Deanna

Subject: Error in Staff Report regarding Street Closure Survey
Members of the City Council,
According to the staff report (20-179-CC), as well as press coverage, the "majority" of respondents to the Chamber of Commerce survey were business operators.
But the actual survey results shown in the report say the opposite:
Do you operate a business in downtown Menlo Park?
(219 responses)
Yes: 26.5%
No: 73.5%
Someone apparently got it backwards, and no one else noticed.
Furthermore, of the 26.5% who claimed to be business owners, it is not clear how many are on Santa Cruz Ave., nor how many of those are on the part of the street still closed.
So please do not consider this survey to represent the truly affected businesses.
Thank you,
Alex Beltramo
