Willows neighborhood Sidewalk/Walkway improvement standard

Dear Council Members,

Ten years ago when I first moved to the Willows I had asked a City Council member and staff how to get a sidewalk completed on 600-800 blocks of Woodland Ave to support active transportation with my young family and the community at large and I was told there was significant expense to do this but when houses are remodel/there is new construction sidewalks would be installed. In those 10 years I left the Willows but came back 4 years ago and started again enquiring about sidewalk/walkway improvements. Recently, from July till earlier this month I received finalized feedback from staff who did a walk audit of Woodland and their findings were that the Walkway Standards (CG-1) code was not followed or there were other reasons like better drainage for not installing/improving the sidewalk/walkway. I urge review of Walkway Standards (CG-1) and look to fully implement sidewalk/walkway to the full letter of the code and to advocate for capital improvement for cement sidewalks to improve the lives of the Menlo Park community.
