Re: Fall 2020 TA Central Cities Rep-Update

.

Dear Mayors and Vice-Mayors,

I hope you are well. I wanted to call your attention to the latest Transportation Authority quarterly update—I have attached only the update to the TA here, although you received an update for the entire San Mateo County Transportation District last week.

I am coming up to the end of my first year on the TA. One of the accomplishments I am most proud of since serving as the Central Judicial Cities representative is instigating quarterly update communication outreach to councilmembers, mayors, and vice mayors. My intent for these updates is to highlight key decisions, issues, or opportunities important for city councils and policy makers to be aware of, rather than providing a recap of the agenda items from these meetings.

The first update I prepared resulted in such positive feedback from my council colleagues in the surrounding cities that board members of other transportation entities at the District thought it was a good idea to do a quarterly update on what the entire district is doing. Other TA board members agreed updates are beneficial and staff now supports the preparation of district-wide quarterly updates and I have served as the liaison to staff to identify those important topics for the TA updates that are of most interest to councilmembers.

It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as the Central Judicial Cities representative this year. Due to the fact that I was appointed in 2019 to complete the remaining one-year term of a board member who resigned, I will be seeking reappointment to the TA again this year (in December) for a full term. I’m looking forward to continuing the work needed to ensure the funding we receive from Measure A and Measure W are administered appropriately.

As always, I’m happy to speak with you anytime, if you’d like.

Best, Julia

Subject: December 2019 TA Central Cities Rep-Update

Honorable Mayors and Councilmembers,

Please find the following update on the most pertinent matters from the past two San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) board meetings.

The intent of these updates as the representative of the Central District Cities seat are to highlight key decisions, issues, or opportunities important for city councils and policy makers to be aware of, rather than providing a recap of the agenda items from these meetings.

My updates are also meant to spark interest and conversation among policy makers, as I know most of us are interested in collaborating where we can to reduce transportation issues. If there are any issues or topics that you would like to discuss or inquire about, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I wish you all Happy Holidays and look forward to working with you in the new year!
