Dear Mayor Taylor, Vice Mayor Combs, Council Member Doerr, Council Member Nash, and Council Member Wolosin,
I am writing to encourage you to support and expedite the proposed one-way pilot for Coleman Avenue. I am the father of two children who attend Lower Laurel and Upper Laurel, and we live on Ringwood Avenue. Every day, my children travel on Coleman, and I am
deeply concerned about their safety. I have witnessed numerous accidents along this route, including serious incidents involving high school students being doored and taken away by ambulance. The current conditions are extremely unsafe for pedestrians, cyclists,
and drivers alike, and immediate action is required.
Superintendent Gracia and other school leaders in our district have expressed their support for the one-way pilot, emphasizing that it is the most feasible solution to improve safety in the shortest time. I ask you to prioritize this issue, as our children
need safe and reliable routes to school. This pilot can provide valuable insights into the feasibility of long-term changes and is crucial for ensuring the safety of all users on Coleman Avenue.
I respectfully ask that you approve the one-way pilot before new council members take office. Please act now to ensure our community’s children are safer on their daily journeys.
