The pilot idea to make Coleman Avenue one way is unacceptable and decreases the safety for other routes to school. Traffic will be sent to Ringwood Avenue and Bay Road. The intersection of Bay Road and Ringwood is very busy during commute times.
The intersection is used by students using the pedestrian bridge over 101 that connects to Ringwood Avenue. Students are traveling both directions to MA and Tide Academy.
Cyclists, both as commuters and recreational, use Ringwood, Bay and the pedestrian bridge 365 days a year not just in the morning during the school year as Coleman is.
Flood park on Bay Road is going to attract more cars, cyclists and pedestrians in the near future, again 365 days.
Speed is a large factor on Coleman and Bay Road. There are options to slow traffic on all routes to local schools.
It is irresponsible for school leaders to endorse safety for one route to school while decreasing safety for other routes to school.
