Dear City Officials,
I, Lauren McLaughlin, am writing to formally notify you of hazardous conditions on Marmona Street, which is currently unmarked and unlit. These dangerous conditions directly contributed to a recent bicycle accident resulting in personal injury to myself.
Incident Details:
Location: Marmona Street, Menlo Park
Date of Incident: 10/8
Nature of Incident: Bicycle accident
Injuries Sustained: Head injury, hand injury
Property Damage: Bicycle damage, boot damage, jacket damage
The absence of adequate street lighting and proper lane markings on Marmona Street creates an unreasonably dangerous environment for cyclists and pedestrians, particularly during low-light and nighttime conditions. This negligence in maintaining safe road conditions poses a significant risk to public safety and the City of Menlo Park may be exposed to liability under California Government Code Section 835, which holds public entities responsible for injuries caused by dangerous conditions on public property when the entity had actual or constructive notice of the condition and failed to take corrective measures within a reasonable time.
I hereby formally request that the City of Menlo Park take immediate action to rectify these hazardous conditions, including but not limited to:
* Installing adequate street lighting
* Implementing proper lane markings
* Conducting a thorough safety assessment of the area
Failure to address these safety concerns may result in further accidents and potential liability for the city. I strongly urge you to take prompt action to prevent future incidents and protect the safety of Menlo Park residents and visitors.
Please be advised that I am preserving all evidence related to this incident, including medical records and damaged property, should further legal action become necessary.
I look forward to your prompt response outlining the specific steps the City of Menlo Park will take to address these critical safety issues.
Sincerely,
Lauren McLaughlin
