October 22 council meeting

An item included in the past council meeting was the Coleman/ Ringwood study session that was not a study session. A study session would have discussed the consequences of the pilot program to make Coleman Avenue one way. Where is the traffic that normally travels Coleman to Willow going to go? Neither the staff report nor the city council discussed the consequences to Ringwood Avenue, Bay Road, Willow Road, Middlefield Avenue and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Residents from the Willows who drive to Laurel School or MA on Coleman and need to return the same direction where are they going? On Ringwood past MA to Middlefield? Or Bay Road to Willow? These areas are heavily congested and safety is an issue. Children from the Flood Triangle, Belle Haven neighborhoods have to cross Bay Road. No crossing guards here. The intersection of Bay and Ringwood is dangerous now. The study session was to include Ringwood? Menlo Park needs to proceed with what can be done within the city limits of Menlo Park on Coleman. If the county adds Coleman as one way, the solution to the problem is unclear. Proceed with what the city can do, remove parking, add stop signs at Santa Monica, enforce the rules. Cars park in the gutter along the vintage oaks neighborhood wall making the road narrower and limiting visibility from Santa Monica, place no parking signs. Jeopardizing the safety on other streets and neighborhoods is unacceptable. Coleman has to remain two way to serve everyone 24/7 not just school days.
